More than ever, Dutch photographers belong to the international top tier, thanks to their distinctive way of seeing. De Mix is a series in which historical Dutch photography serves as inspiration for new work. The focus is on genres in which Dutch photographers excel, such as documentary photography, portraiture, landscape, and photojournalism. You’ll encounter quintessentially Dutch, regional, and local subjects. Celebrate the Image Mix is a surprising journey of discovery through the Netherlands of the past and present.
Stichting Beeldmix and Fotomuseum Hilversum are jointly presenting the major survey exhibition Celebrate the Image Mix - Dutch photographers then and now. This exhibition is the culmination of a series of twelve shows celebrating the richness and versatility of Dutch photography. At Fotomuseum Hilversum and Hilversum Central Station, past and present come together in a unique visual narrative full of perspectives, themes, and voices.
Celebrate the Image Mix reveals the richness and diversity of Dutch autonomous photography. The images offer fresh perspectives on current topics such as the energy transition, liveability, inclusivity, diversity, gender equality, artificial intelligence, nature, water management, sustainability, circularity, and social and innovative ways of living.
