Fotomuseum Hilversum at the KunstRAI

Prelude of 'BLOS' - Annabel Oosteweeghel & Frank Visser

External
location

Fotomuseum Hilversum is the only museum participating at the KunstRAI in Amsterdam, from April 22 to 26, 2026. The museum presents BLOS, a multidisciplinary project by photographer Annabel Oosteweeghel and artist Frank Visser, which will be on display at the museum this autumn. BLOS is a project in which the boundary between photography and visual art blurs.

BLOS – An encounter in colour, textiles, and photography

BLOS is an ode to having fun. It shows what emerges when working with colour, form, and material. The studio serves as a sanctuary where experimentation takes place with textiles, sculptures, and existing materials given a new life. The image arises from spontaneity and the collaboration between Oosteweeghel and Visser, without a fixed plan.

As soon as a model enters the studio, their creative process begins. Space is made for association and free creation. BLOS is like a dressing-up box being opened. Loose fabrics serve as skirts, or a collection of down sleeping bags is combined into one large cloak. On the spot, couture is created on the models' bodies using scissors, needle, and thread.

In this way, a visual language develops in which photography, installation, and textiles merge. BLOS advocates for a pronounced softness towards ourselves and the world, expressed in color and form.

About the makers

Annabel Oosteweeghel (1969) is a photographer and lives in Noordwijk. She studied Audiovisual Design at the St. Joost Academy in Breda.

In addition to her personal projects, she works on commission and has photographed for leading publications such as The New York Times Magazine, NRC, Algemeen Dagblad, The Guardian, and de Volkskrant. Her work has previously been shown at Fotomuseum Hilversum (Old Love), Museum de Fundatie (Insomnia), and Museum Flehite (Pretty Dark). Recently, her series Reborn Dolls was nominated for the Zilveren Camera 2025.

Frank Visser (1963) is a narrative artist who works at the intersection of imagery, styling, and scenography. He graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. In his practice, he explores the possibilities of color and material. He has worked on commission for Orange Babies, Hermès, and ELLE Decoration, and has been presented at, among others, Museum Flehite (Pretty Dark), Luster, and the Naarder Fotofestival.
